Second Le Mans Cup for Audi Motorsport Newsletter 22/2008 Le Mans: Next Wednesday AUDI AG will receive a Le Mans Cup in Paris for the second time. An automobile manufacturer may only keep the challenge cup after winning the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans three times in a row with the same team. After 2000, 2001 and 2002, Audi has managed this feat for as much as the second time and is thus the first automobile manufacturer to own two Le Mans Cups. On behalf of Audi, Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, Head of Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich and Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen will receive the prestigious trophy of the Automobile Club de L’Ouest (ACO). Audi employees celebrate their racers DTM/Le Mans: Some 100,000 Audi employees and their families celebrated the successful motorsport squad of AUDI AG at the “Audi family day” in Ingolstadt on Saturday. The two-time DTM Champion Mattias Ekström, Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen, DTM front runner Timo Scheider and the new LMS Champions Alexandre Prémat and Mike Rockenfeller were surrounded by particularly large crowds. Audi Sport entertained attendees of the family day with demonstration laps of the Audi racing cars and pit stop demonstrations. Dindo Capello, Lucas Luhr, Allan McNish, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner were excused. They were preparing for the “Petit Le Mans” race to be staged next Saturday in tests at Road Atlanta this weekend. Podium for Sanna, title for Morbidelli Superstars: At the season’s finale of the Italian Superstars Touring Car Series Audi drivers Giorgio Sanna and Gianni Morbidelli finished in second and third place, respectively. Former Formula 1 driver Gianni Morbidelli had secured the title in his Audi RS 4 as early as at the race at Misano two weeks ago. Simon Reinberth on podium twice JTCC: At the finale of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship season at Mantorp Park (Sweden) junior driver Simon Reinberth, who is supported by Audi factory driver Mattias Ekström, clinched two second places in the Audi A3.
