Ten years of the Audi A3It is the premium compact car on the world market: more than 1.5 million units have come off the assembly line since production of the first generation began in the autumn of 1996.
The second generation made its debut in 2003 in the shape of the three-door model and was successful right from the start: 2003 has been the most successful year for the A3 up to now. The four-door Sportback model, launched at the end of 2004, is also proving to be a winner on all counts. Technologies such as the sophisticated four-link rear suspension and the innovative S tronic dual-clutch gearbox underline the proverbial Audi "Vorsprung durch Technik". The FSI and TFSI engines impress with their remarkable efficiency and performance, delivering up to 195 kW (265 bhp); the most powerful diesel musters up 125 kW (170 bhp). The A3 steadfastly continues to forge ahead of its competitors. The equipment, data and prices stated here refer to the model range offered for sale in Germany.
