Sales of All-New Dodge Durango Running 14 Percent Ahead of Last Year

Chrysler Group SUV Sales Humming Along in 2004

Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group's SUV sales are humming along in 2004 with all four Chrysler Group SUVs - Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Durango showing significant year-over-year sales growth of 17 percent in year-to-date sales through April.

photo by daimlerchrysler, 05-2004The entire lineup of Jeep vehicles has posted strong sales gains in 2004, rising 17 percent over year-to-date sales of 2003.  Jeep Wrangler had the best April in its history, with sales surging 53 percent, following a record sales month in March.  Year-to-date Jeep Wrangler sales of 29,393 for 2004 are up 52 percent compared to the same period in 2003.  Jeep Liberty sales of 57,326 are 13 percent ahead of last year, while Jeep Grand Cherokee sales are up 8 percent at 64,200 units. "The Jeep brand will continue to provide rugged, versatile 4x4 vehicles which fulfill the brand's promise of freedom, adventure, mastery and authenticity," said Jeff Bell, Vice President - Jeep.  "It's a reputation Jeep has earned during more than six decades of 4x4 leadership.  As we grow the brand, Jeep vehicles will continue to be what they have always been - the most capable.

photo by daimlerchrysler, 05-2004"The all-new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - which offers more versatility in terms of length, cargo space and rear-seat leg room to the icon of the Jeep brand - is now available in dealerships nationwide.  Also, three additional Jeep branded products are set to launch later this year, including the all-new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade and Diesel models. Sales of the all-new Dodge Durango,  which launched late last year, are also showing significant gains.  Durango sales of 38,602 units through April are 14 percent better than last year when 33,591 units were sold. "Dodge Durango continues the Dodge heritage of being bold, powerful and capable,"  said Darryl Jackson, Vice President - Dodge. "The new Dodge Durango offers more of everything - more space, more comfort, more capability and more power with its best-in-class HEMI® engine." Driven in part by the success of Chrysler Group SUVs in 2004, Chrysler Group sales through April improved 2 percent to 706,515 units compared to sales of 688,863 units through April 2003.
