Alain Visser, Executive Director, European Marketing, for the Opel and Vauxhall brands, has also taken over leadership of the Sales function for the Opel and Saab brands in the German and Austrian markets, with immediate effect. Jean-Marc Gales, the previous head of sales in Germany and Austria, has decided to leave the company. Jonathan Browning, GM Europe Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, and Chairman, Vauxhall Motors Ltd, sees the organisational move as an important step in the restructuring of the brands: "In his extended function Alain Visser assumes a key role in not only developing strategies to rejuvenate the brands in Europe, but also in implementing them. We will closely coordinate marketing plans and react even faster to the rapidly changing market through this concentration of national and European functions." Browning wished Gales all the best for his professional future and thanked him "for his strong contribution during an important phase for our company." Visser was born on September 24, 1963, in Antwerp, Belgium. He completed his first studies as a translator in 1985 at the university of Antwerp. He speaks six languages in total. Visser received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1999 from the Duke University in North Carolina (USA). Visser began his professional career in 1987 at Ford Belgium in Antwerp. He joined Opel in 2004 as Executive Director, Sales Developments Projects.
