../../../JPG/DAIMLER/dc000349.JPG, photo by daimlerchrysler 2007 Stuttgart - Documenting completed service and maintenance work even more securely and conveniently - this is guaranteed by the new Digital Service Booklet online system for Mercedes-Benz workshops. From 3 September 2007, it will be available in 35 European markets for all Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS-Class vehicles produced from this date. Every completed service will be recorded online, thus replacing the conventional maintenance documentation. All data on the individual maintenance jobs will be stored safely and securely in a central Mercedes-Benz database protected against third-party access.

Security and convenience for customers

Customers will receive a printout to be kept in the service booklet as tangible proof that maintenance work has been performed. If this digital service report is lost, all Mercedes-Benz partners can provide information on all service data of the vehicle and have a full overview of work completed to date in a matter of seconds. As required, a complete service history can also be prepared, meaning that customers can demonstrate warranty receipt at any time. If customers change workshop or are abroad, there is another plus point of the Digital Service Booklet: the service report is seamlessly continued and is available in the language of the respective country. In addition to all Mercedes-Benz service outlets, independent workshops that have registered in advance can use the system. Furthermore, the transparency of the vehicle data makes reception and workshop planning easier for the workshops, as there is no need to search for the service booklet in the vehicle, for example.

More stable value

The Digital Service Booklet is also highly useful when selling a used vehicle. For instance, mileages and completed service scopes remain documented in the database in a forgery-proof and verifiable manner. This gives buyers additional security and preserves the resale value of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Easy to use

The new system has a clear and logical layout. To start up the system, the relevant vehicle is identified via its vehicle identification number. Self-explanatory screen displays make it easy and intuitive to operate - a key condition for international use. The Digital Service Booklet replaces the current generation of manually completed service booklets from 3 September 2007. Additional Mercedes-Benz passenger car model series will gradually follow.
